About this scholarship

Texas state law exempts foster youth from paying tuition and fees at state-supported colleges and universities. Students must enroll before their 27th birthday to use the exemption.

Who can apply

Applicants must be currently or formerly in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, or have been adopted from DFPS.

Every scholarship in this directory is exclusively for current or former foster youth. Read the sponsor’s own eligibility rules before you start — they decide who qualifies.
